quietly becoming your purpose… life lesson from a caterpillar
Do you ever feel unnoticed or invisible? Despite your best effort your life seems to pale in comparison to what everyone in your peer group is doing. You see the beautiful photos on social media, you watch the videos and listen to conversations. However, it all leaves you feeling as if your life doesn’t measure up.
Don’t despair!
In a loud and boisterous, look at me world it’s easy to feel invisible. Unfortunately, you may feel as if the quiet contributions you are making are not significant or of any importance. I assure you, it’s not so. Your ideas and contributions are important.
Don’t give up!
Keep going, especially if you’re not who you want to become at this moment. When you critique yourself and come up short, tell yourself, I’m a work in progress. I’m quietly becoming the person God created me to be.
Continue to make good choices and always perform at your best. These are building blocks on the road to becoming your purpose. Everyone does it differently. Some people burst into their purpose loudly, with pomp and circumstance and some people quietly over time just seem to appear out of nowhere.
Just when the caterpillar thought its life was over it became a butterfly.
Unknown
The caterpillar doesn’t make a sound when it goes into its cocoon. It doesn’t announce to all of its friends, “Hey guys, I’m going to be a butterfly one day. Do you see that butterfly up there? I’m going to be just as beautiful. I’m going to fly just like that one day.” The caterpillar simply goes into its cocoon. From the outside it looks as if nothing is happening. However, inside the cocoon where no one can see, the caterpillar is quietly becoming. It is being transformed into something new. Finally one day seemingly of nowhere it quietly becomes what it was destined to be all along, a beautiful butterfly.
Like the caterpillar, you too have a purpose
Guess what? God has begun a work in you and He is able to complete it. The book of Esther tells the story of Esther a little Jewish girl who God used to save her people. In the beginning of the story there is nothing to show that she would one day become queen and the impact she would have. However, like she quietly went through the process and allowed God to work on her and make her into the person he created her to be.
Like Esther, you are not here by accident. Before you were conceived God knew you! Before you were born God had plans for you! Don’t feel that your life is purposeless. God has a destiny created just for you.
What others are doing doesn’t negate or make what you can contribute to the world less important. Concentrate on the areas of your life that you need to improve. Work on yourself without worrying about others. God has a plan for your life, and it is not contingent on His plan for someone else’s life.
I hope you will become a regular visitor to this blog. My prayer is that you will find encouragement, motivation and inspiration here. As I write you this note only God knows who you will ultimately become. However, the possibilities are endless if you’re willing to put in the work.
