Are You Connected to the Source
I picked up my Fitbit recently to put it on. I tapped the face to check the time, but the display remained dark. I realized quickly that the battery was dead. The frustrating thing is that the Fitbit was resting right next to the power cord. However, I had not checked the battery level. Somehow, I had missed the low battery warning followed by the critical warning and was left with a Fitbit that was unable to serve its purpose because it had been disconnected from the source too long.

Jesus warns of this in John 15:4
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
We cannot become who we are truly purposed to become unless we are connected to Jesus. We must abide in Him if we want to fulfill our purpose. In the grand scheme of things, a dead battery on my Fitbit wasn’t a life-changing event. It didn’t alter my life, or the course of my day in anyway. However, there can be other things that does. How often do you check your relationship with Jesus? Are you connected to the source? Are you reading you Bible and spending time in prayer? If not, you may find yourself with a dead, rundown spiritual life. Are you checking the battery level in your relationships? Are you spending time together, talking, enjoying each other’s company? If you don’t you may find yourself in a failed relationship.
Sometimes we get in a rhythm of doing, doing, doing but not checking to ensure that all is well. It may not seem like lack of checking is a big deal initially because your battery may still have some life. However, you may notice it getting a bit sluggish, and after a while if there is no connection to the source it dies. Dead battery =Dead relationships…
Ultimately, you must stay connected to the source. Just as a Fitbit needs to be regularly charged to function properly, so do we. Our spiritual and personal relationships require consistent attention to thrive. By staying connected to Jesus and regularly checking in on our relationships, we can ensure that we are living a fulfilling and purposeful life. Remember to recharge and reconnect, so you can bear fruit and maintain healthy vibrant relationships with Jesus and those around you.
